Chatting with your baby

During the first three months, your baby’s brain is rapidly developing, and it’s the perfect time to introduce them to a new language in a stimulating, language-rich environment. One of the best ways to do this is by engaging in conversations with your baby.

Here are some helpful tips:

  • Formal language instruction is not applicable at this stage, but exposing the baby to sounds, intonations, and positive communication in the target language is important.
  • According to experts, speaking to babies in a high-pitched, sing-along voice is the best way to get their attention and engage with them effectively.
  • When you talk to your baby, try to make eye contact and use a soothing tone of voice. You can narrate your daily routine, sing songs, and make different sounds to keep your baby engaged.

It’s important to remember that at this age, your baby won’t be able to respond with words, but they will be listening and processing the sounds and patterns of your language. So, the next time you’re snuggling with your little one, take a few minutes to chat with them.
