Description

We are now offering face-to-face Yorùbá language lessons on Saturday afternoons to children aged between 5 years to 16 years old.

Lessons cover essential grammar and vocabulary such as greetings, using simple nouns and pronouns, responding to instructions and more. Our classes focus on language that can be used in everyday conversation. The best way to learn any language is through speaking. Whilst focussing on specific themes and learning objectives (such as mastering the Yorùbá alphabets, numbers, pronouns etc.) our learners watch short movies, listen to music, write poetry, play games and participate in various group activities. These fun and intensive learning experiences provide our students the opportunity to bolster their speaking, reading, listening and writing capabilities. Our teaching style is interactive, making learning easier and faster!

Students are placed in different groups based on their age.

Group 1: 5 – 8 years old:

In this group children are encouraged to speak Yoruba through a wide variety of activities: songs, stories and games that allows them to develop their vocabulary and to learn to express themselves in Yoruba.

Group 2: 9 – 12 years old:

In this group, children learn to read and write in Yoruba. We start to explain Yoruba grammar and to enhance their vocabulary. The children also participate in lots of fun activities, sing songs and learn about Yoruba culture, history and geography.

Group 3: 13 – 16 years old:

In this group, children learn to read and write in Yoruba and develop their knowledge of Yoruba grammar. We also explore Yoruba culture, history and geography through fun activities. At the end of the term students will acquire the ability to read and write short simple texts, and communicate on simple everyday topics.
