We have curated a wonderful storytelling event for South London Gallery’s Family Fun Day, part of their exhibition Lagos, Peckham, Repeat: Pilgrimage to the Lakes.
The special Family Fun Day is FREE to attend and will be on Saturday 29 July, 12 – 4 pm

1 pm – 1.30 pm: Author Sade Fadipe reads her book A Visit to Grandad
Join us for a storytelling session with children’s author, Sade Fadipe, who will tell the story of Adanah from her book, A Visit to Grandad, complete with a craft and colouring activity.
1.45 pm – 2.15 pm: Igbo folktales with Oby Okpala
Join Oby Okpala as she introduces a tale from the Igbo culture to children, teaching words and phrases in the Igbo language while using songs and actions to amuse and excite her listeners.
2.30 pm – 3.30 pm: Traditional African Drumming Workshop with Emmanuel the Magnificent
Enjoy an open African drumming session with Emmanuel the Magnificent! We’ll have fun whilst creating wonderful music together.
3.30 pm – 4 pm: Yoruba Music and Storytime with Gbemisola Isimi
Have you ever wondered why dogs are kept at home as pets or why the Bear has a short tail? Would you like to hear their story? Join Gbemisola Isimi as she leads a fun interactive Yoruba music and story-time session.

We have 60 Proof copies of Nigerian-German author Efua Traoré’s children’s books ‘Children of the Quicksands’ and ‘One Chance Dance’ to give away FREE courtesy of Chicken House Books. Both books are suitable for children aged 8/9+. Pick up your copy from the Attic.
